On July 20, 2008 Jefferson Township Fire Co # 2 hosted a Multi-agency Water Tender Shuttle Drill. Fifteen Fire departments from three counties including Morris, Sussex and Essex, participated in the drill. Tankers and Engines used a local draft site located in the Lake Forrest section of Jefferson Twp to supply enough water to fill four drafting pools which in turn provided water to Rockaway's 95 foot tower ladder and Roxbury's 102 foot tower. This continuous loop was sustained for just over an hour and supplied over 1500 gallons per minute. This drill was the first of it's kind to utilize the MIRS (Morris Integrated Radio System) as it's main source for communication.
Over 100 firefighters from Milton, Newton, Mount Arlington, Budd Lake, Mount Hope, Rockaway, Mine Hill, Marcella, Wharton, Highland Lakes, Byram, Boonton Twp, Picatinny, Essex Fells took part in the training drill.
